I thought it would be a good idea to pass on some lessons I've learned
about raising funds for education. I guess it can also be applied to any kind of fundraising.
First and foremost, don't discount any ideas you have!
One of the ideas
I had was to solicit various companies for a contribution. Many people I told, about this
idea, were skeptical, to say the least. I think some people even thought it was useless or
worthless. Let me tell you, it worked!
One of the companies I solicited didn't
give me money but they did give me prizes in order for me to do a raffle.
I ended up raising over 6 times more money than I
thought I would with my raffle. So there. I'm now sticking my tongue out to
all of those people that were skeptical.
So, here are some ideas I've had and also thought of since the end of my fundraising.
- Solicit local businesses to provide a prize for a raffle (remember to register your raffle),
- Create an event and sell tickets,
- Here's an idea to raise funds within an event: Get several
prizes and set them on a table. Sell tickets, for example 20 tickets for $15.
Place some bowls in front of the prizes and allow your guests to place their tickets
in the bowls for the prizes they are interested in.
These are the ideas I have so far. If you have any ideas you would like
to pass on to others, please send me an email.
I would most appreciate it. Also, keep checking here for ideas. I'll be adding more as I
get more.
